Rules and Boundaries are Important for children.

From a young age, children need to learn the importance of rules and boundaries. These guidelines help provide a sense of structure and safety, allowing children to understand what is expected of them and how to navigate the world around them, and most importantly to feel safe and protected.

When children are taught the importance of rules and boundaries, they are more likely to develop a strong sense of responsibility and self-discipline, which can be beneficial as they grow older.

It is important for parents and caregivers to set clear boundaries and enforce rules consistently, whilst also explaining to children the reasoning behind these guidelines. By doing so, children can learn to respect and appreciate the value of rules and boundaries, setting them up for success in the future.

The best way to help children to learn and respect your

rules and boundaries is to involve them in the

process of making the rules.

This will give them some ownership and a sense of control too.

Given choice and involvement they are more likely to uphold rules.

If you can’t agree, then try giving them some choice or a couple of choices you are happy with and get agreement on one of these.
